The Lunch Bunch, a group of locals who have dined together at over 400 area restaurants, are a great example to us all. The Huntsville/Madison County area has over 500 eateries, each offering a unique cuisine and dining experience. Lloyd, Louie, Rene and Marie, the members of The Lunch Bunch, have experienced the good food and atmosphere of almost all of our local restaurants and while doing so, they’ve supported our local economy.
One of the reasons we are looking forward to the 2013 Restaurant Week is just what The Lunch Bunch has done---experiencing the best of local dining and in turn supporting the very community that fosters excellence in all it does, whether that be building machines to put man on the moon or creating a one-of-a-kind dish garnished with the freshest local ingredients.
From Friday, August 16th to Sunday, August 25th, 28 Huntsville and Madison County restaurants have prepared specials and savings specifically for you to enjoy. These participating restaurants, all of which can be found by visiting www.huntsville.org/restaurantweek, will be putting together lunch specials for $5, $10 or $20 and/or dinner specials for $10, $20 or $30. Lunch specials will include a main course and an appetizer or dessert, while dinner specials will include an appetizer, main course and dessert.
The Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau will also be hosting cooking demonstrations with local chefs Merle Phillip (The Eaves Restaurant) and Robert Charles (Scene Restaurant & Lounge) on Wednesday, August 21st from 11:30 until 1:30 at the Visitor Center. Come and join us on your lunch break! The event is free to the public, and Chef Phillip and Chef Charles will be cooking up some scrumptious treats for you to sample.
Another Restaurant Week activity that we’ve planned for you is an art display from the North Alabama Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). They’ve created drawings on a palate that is most recognizable to those of us in the restaurant business---the napkin. Harkening back to the days of early rocket scientists who drew their visions of exploration on a simple napkin, the North Alabama AIA group has offered to display their own napkin sketches in the Visitor Center through September 1st. They’ve even incorporated our Restaurant Week napkin into the display. Be sure to stop by and take a look at some great local work!
Take a few minutes and plan where you and your friends and family are going to dine this week. You have many great options for delicious food and wonderful deals.
See you around town,
